Haley Freedlund (they/them) is a trombonist, tour manager, photographer, and community builder based in Seattle, WA. In all the work they do, Haley is committed to supporting efforts for new and creative music, large ensembles, nontraditional instrumentation, and uplifting underrepresented artists from all walks of life.
With a knack for theater production, arts administration, creative problem solving, and artistic preservation, Haley is frequently sought after to collaborate on exciting and multifaceted works for the stage and beyond its confines. Their performative and compositional practice often creates an amalgam of jazz, chamber music, songwriting, and free improvisation. When Haley plays the trombone or sings, it is truly an extension of their spirit.
Haley was the lead curator and producer of Racer Sessions from 2016 until its final season in 2024, and holds production and curatorial roles with the Seattle Improvised Music Festival, New Music Gathering, and Tarboo Fest in Washington's Olympic Peninsula. They also maintain regular working relationships with New York-based brass quartet The Westerlies as their Festival Coordinator and Production Manager, with Roomful of Teeth as their tour manager, and with IMG Artists as their tour production lead in their partnerships with Jazz at Lincoln Center.
